Bridwell Park

A breathtaking NEW wedding venue for Devon. Bridwell Park, a beautiful Georgian House set in 100 acres of Devon parkland and home to Lord Ivar Mountbatten, has been hidden from public gaze for over 240 years but has now opened its doors following a stunning renovation.

Rich Red Berries, Red Velvet, Woodland Plumb and Sublime Gold colour pallets. Gold and purple touches – sometimes an unexpected duo, yet they are very pleasing to the eye and ooze a warm, cozy vibe especially when joined by dark greens, soft cream and light bronze, especially for this country house winter shoot.

Cleeve Abbey

“A shoot that artfully portrays how a traditional English heritage style can be very current and directional paired with the right couple and the right design – an eclectic mix of loveliness!” Juno & Joy.

We developed the muted colour palette of Autumn plums, greens and neutrals, adding texture for definition and interest. We used the English Heritage designer throw – bringing together the styling elements and putting them into the context of the stunning backdrop of Cleeve Abbey.

Our table setting evokes a rustic elegance and reflects the history of the building – we selected timeless pieces, authentic and original, natural, elegant. We wanted the images of the bride and groom to portray an elegance with a little drama – a bride mindful of her environment, connecting with it, reflecting the beauty of a historic period in time. Colours such as Red Berry,  Hydrangea Blue, Rich Purple and Woodland Plumbs are brought to life in the natural, rustic surroundings.

What to think about when planning your perfect Winter wedding.

1. Colours

Don’t feel you have to be bound to simple colour pallets, bring to life the classic Red & Green seasonal standby… with rich Red Velvets, Red Berry, Woodland Plumb and Light Gold colour pallets. Gold and purple are an unexpected duo, yet they are very pleasing to the eye and ooze a warm, cozy vibe. You could even add in Cool Blues, Blush Pinks and Burnt Orange and Tartan to create a different winter vibe.

2. The Bride

A timeless silk & lace dress with a jumper or throw to keep you cozy – take inspiration from Olivia Palermo, with her tulle skirt and cozy creamy cashmere jumper for a beautiful quirky look, plus Her blue Manolo Blahnik’s are just divine!!

Take romantic & traditional inspiration from a Luxuriously long sleeved lace dress and Tartan throw… key in keeping out the chill of the frosty winter air- when opting for a more traditional style, this style works really well too. You can really let your everyday style run wild, team with lace up vintage boots and jaw dropping bespoke vintage jewellery … if you are dressing for an outdoor wedding, sometimes you’ve got to be practical.

3. Cocktail Hour

Mulled wine is usually a winter wedding first choice, however if you wanted to opt for something different maybe a delicious boozy white hot chocolate… or even a glass of eggnog to warm up your guests would be a nice touch. Create a signature Winter cocktail to offer guests on arrival.

4. Cake

A wedding in the coldest months requires a cake to warm your heart. Snowflakes, glitter, icicles, glowing white tones, rich reds, and metallic accents all instantly come to mind. One of the key trends this Winter point to all white creations with metallic accents and the use of silver beads or silver sugar

5. Table Decoration

Oodles of flowers like Pale blush roses, grey, green, cream and burgundy tones beautifully combined, rustic twine and vintage plates to give a relaxed feel. Scattered pine cones, Silver Lanterns that glisten in the light of beautiful tea lights and candles, rustic look table runners and chair tie backs work really well again for a relaxed yet intimate look.

6. Favours & Gifts

A little sweet treat for your guests, maybe cranberries dipped in chocolate or Roasted Chestnuts, well anything dipped in chocolate for that matter…

7. Venue Selection

Brides either like to go for a blank canvas style venue that can easily be styled to any brides dream look, or brides like to go for a quirky venue that has a strong, bespoke style that immediately fits with their wedding idea they have in their mind, and all over their pinterest boards!

For something a little different – Clovelly is a unique setting; cobbled streets tumble down into the harbour, enchanting during the bustle of summer and dramatic during the winter. This offered us a stunning backdrop for our relaxed, yet elegant, ethereal wedding inspiration shoot.

8. Invitations & Stationary

These invitations from Knots and Kisses are beautiful…. thick brown paper, with a handwritten or calligraphy text with a beautiful hand tied ribbon could just set the scene for a wintery or woodland inspired wedding.

9. Flowers

Something a little different…  White and Blush Coloured Roses, Delicate Gypsophila, White Hydrangeas, Lisianthus … you could even include their unopened buds in a floral table display or in your bouquet as they are really beautiful too!  We love the idea of adding pinecones and cinnamon sticks dipped in sugar, to add interest to your table design.

10. Finishing Touches

Pull together a couple of quirky chairs and stools beside the fire, fill a basket or two with luxurious knitted and faux fur throws for your guests to snuggle up in to.

Have a quirky Photo Booth station at your wedding, everyone loves a polaroid – keep sakes and fun interactive stations are fantastic options to keep your guests entertained too. Take a peek at the outstanding images from Matt Stockman Photography & his quirky photo booths.

Keep your guests warmed up with cups of divine Coffee with a hint of Baileys for the adults… a much needed kick for a wintery wedding. Take a look at the amazing work from The Coffee Camper Co.

Candlelit elegance in abundance – go wild with pillar candles of the staircase, antique silver & gold candelabras on the tables, fire pits & sparklers outside on the terrace – winter romance at its finest!

At Blue Fizz Events we have a fabulous range of accessories to hire to create your perfect Winter Wedding – we can also offer a creative bespoke service to add individuality to your table settings and venue styling.
