The happy couple
“Vicky and Paul were one of the loveliest couples I’ve had the fortune to meet. Theirs was a story of international jet setting, business commitments and a whirlwind romance.

“They fell in love in one of the most romantic cities in the world – Paris! I do believe in destiny and their story was most definitely written in the stars. Paul, a quintessential English gentleman, charming, generous, kind, and a fabulously successful businessman was visiting the city whilst on business. There, he met Vicky – Australian born, also a successful business woman, beautiful, passionate about life, caring and warm – and unsurprisingly, he was smitten! When I met them I saw that this marriage most definitely was made in heaven …”

The engagement
“I first met Paul when he asked me to help him put together his wonderfully romantic proposal to Vicky. We arranged a chauffeur driven limousine to a sumptuous candlelit Champagne lunch, then hire of the Mediterranean Dome at The Eden Project (which we decorated with church candles and tealights) for canapes & fizz, followed by a private supper – and she said yes!”

The brief
“Having successfully brought together all the elements for a stunning engagement proposal, I was thrilled to receive a call from them both, asking if I could assist them with their wedding plans.
“Vicky and Paul loved the ‘Vintage Chic’  look, and the brief was to source the most perfect Westcountry wedding venue (with excellent airport, rail and road links for their national and international guests), engage a collective of fabulous wedding suppliers, manage the wedding planning process, set up and style the wedding the day before – and finally, co-ordinate on the day.
“I needed to use my connections to source and engage with the most talented suppliers in the field of catering, photography, stationery, cake and floral design, and to ensure all components ran smoothly and on time: the wedding ceremony, wedding breakfast, cake cutting, bouquet throwing & first dance, speeches and toastmaster arrangements, overseeing caterers.
“Every last detail had to be professionally planned, managed and executed – and to look absolutely stunning.”

The big day
“Being able to oversee and assist Paul and Vicky ‘on the day’ was not only a privilege but an absolute pleasure.
“I’d found the most perfect venue for their wedding celebration – Pynes House just outside of Exeter in Devon. This exquisite private country house, set in 37 acres of parkland and over 300 years old, oozes quintessential English charm and finesse. It’s breathtakingly romantic, having been recently restored. With the help of Blue Fizz’s resident Creative Stylist, Bridget, we created table centres featuring vintage inspired aeroplanes, then used our vintage suitcases, crates, easel and mismatched vintage bottles to complement Vicky’s accessories and bring together the finished Vintage Chic look.

Miss Gen was the photographer of choice. She brought a London edge to the Devon countryside, and her beautiful reportage style photography captured the day beautifully. With Australian roots and a passion for English heritage combined with a flair for vintage, Gen’s inspired vision allowed her to create a stunning collection of unique images of Paul and Vicky’s wedding day.

Flowers were provided by Laura Hingston Flowers. Laura grows her own blooms and creates beautiful bespoke floral designs inspired by the South West countryside. For Vicky and Paul she created wild, unmanicured bouquets, with boutonnieres and mason jar floral arrangements using a sublime combination of peonies, roses, astilbe, clematis, foxgloves and thistles.

“Industry experts Posh Nosh were selected as the caterer, and put together a fine dining menu of flavours of the West Country – including a wedding breakfast feast which was as visually spectacular as it was delicious. They also provided fabulous wines and a pop up bar, all headed up by the wonderfully professional Emma.

“Australian born Kate at Kate Burt Cakes created a wedding cake masterpiece – a three tiered creation composed of vintage suitcases enveloped in ‘distressed’ sugar icing, a sublime blend of orange blossom and elderflower buttercream, and wild strawberries with white chocolate buttercream.

“The beautiful wedding stationary came from Nikki at Knots and Kisses, who created charming bespoke Vintage designs with rustic flair, which embraced elements of overseas travel including destinations, luggage labels and postage stamps.

“And finally, come the evening, a brilliant time was had by all thanks to the excellent tribute band Call Me Blondie.

“For me, the wedding day simply flew by! Having shared so much time with Paul and Vicky during the proceeding months via email and phone, I felt truly honoured to share and be part of this heart warming and incredibly beautiful wedding celebration embracing life, love, family and friendship.

“Paul and Vicky – thank you! I wish you both a lifetime of happiness and joy together.”
