With still so much uncertainly and heartbreak surrounding 2020 Spring and Summer Weddings for couples due to the Covid 19 outbreak, we wanted to take this opportunity of sharing with you the story of one of our 2019 couples.

Our gorgeous bride and groom Jenny and Chris, know only too well, the sting of disappointment at having to postpone their wedding. Theirs was a vision of Spring blooms & wildflowers, a colour palette of  pinks, greens and blue, whimsical watercolours, a delicately scented garden Wedding filled with cherry blossom & roses, a seasonal Spring Wedding Feast in our Traditional Marquee.

Due to Chris’ change in deployment, they had to change their plans from Spring to Autumn. Theirs is a story which embraces the challenge of a revised date whilst remaining strong and being able to reinvent their vision into an exquisite Autumnal Wedding Celebration bursting with rich colour, an eclectic mix of Tradition & Heritage, gorgeous rustic chic styling and filled with overwhelming love and tears of joy. The wait was worth it …  as you will see from the images shared today & photographed so beautifully by the hugely talented Amy at Amy Sampson Photography.

Chris’ cool, calm composure and Jenny’s graceful and understated elegance were for all to see. Everyone knew just how much this day meant to them 🙂 Thank you Jenny & Chris for sharing your story with us. Jenny has kindly offered her own anecdotes as inspiration for couples to overcome the heartache of postponement and to focus on wedding planning during the coming months…….

“To all 2020 brides – postponing your wedding is not the end, it is just the beginning and what’s more everyone will understand. The waiting will only make the day even better!

I wouldn’t be telling the truth if I didn’t say January 2019 was tough. We had just put the final plans in place for our wedding then the next day the call came. My now husband was abroad and his deployment had suddenly changed and there was nothing for it but a swift change of wedding dates from the 20th April to the 19th October. My visions of a spring wedding with the garden full of blossom and spring flowers was shattered. But it wasn’t all bad, yes there were a few tears but thanks to Tracy, my extraordinary family and the understanding of everyone who had held the 20th April for us, we were soon re-organised for what turned out to be the only dry day in October!

My advice for making it through the wobbles and making it the best day ever are:

1. Keep smiling – it isn’t as bad as it seems
2. Talk about it – no one will mind!
3. If it’s all gets too much and seems odd, make small changes to your plan so it doesn’t seem like you’re getting married at the wrong time, you’re getting married when it was meant to be!

Here are some of the subtle changes I made to turn spring into autumn and make sure all our plans were right for our wedding day :

a) adding a jacket to my dress
b) changing the flowers
c) booking fireworks (so much closer to Guy Fawkes Day) and
d) making small changes to the menu so everything was seasonal
e) order lots more lights!
It was the most magical day from start to finish and when you drive away as Mr & Mrs you truly won’t remember that you had to change the date.”
